NEXT-HEI is launching a new series of practical online workshops to help researchers, doctoral candidates, postdocs, and academic innovators turn scientific results into market-ready solutions. The initiative aims to build entrepreneurial skills within Higher Education Institutions and support the transition from research to real-world impact.Through expert-led sessions, participants will learn how to evaluate market potential, understand intellectual property (IP) rights, explore funding pathways, and prepare early-stage ventures for collaboration with industry and investors.
The workshops form part of NEXT-HEI’s broader effort to strengthen innovation capacity within universities and ensure that promising research can grow into viable products, services, or startups. The programme specifically supports innovators in moderate and emerging regions, helping them access European networks, investors, and resources.
Access to Funding for Innovators and Startups + Investor Matchmaking

This workshop offers an overview of early-stage funding opportunities, followed by targeted matchmaking sessions connecting participants directly with investors.
EU Funding Opportunities for Academic Startups

Participants will receive clear, structured guidance on EU-level funding instruments, including Horizon Europe, the European Innovation Council (EIC), and ERC Proof of Concept schemes.
Understanding IP Protection & Licensing

A practice-oriented session providing essential insights into protecting research results, managing intellectual property, and navigating licensing options.
Research to Revenue: Commercialisation Routes

This session introduces key steps for translating research outcomes into market-ready solutions, with emphasis on practical tools and early-stage commercialisation strategies.
